The Jingwu Association was founded in Shanghai. The main purpose of the association was to keep traditional martial arts without boundaries of factions between groups nor secretive training methods of the past. It proposed a modern approach and invited many masters as teachers of the association and Huo Yuanjia recognized as its founding father. Since Mizongyi (Yanqingquan) Master Huo Yuanjia passed away early most of the teachings and curriculum of the school relied on the invited teachers such as Zhao Lianhe, Luo Guangyu, Chen Zicheng, Geng Jishan and Wu Jianquan.
When students entered they were to first pass the Chin Woo Standard Curriculum (as set by Zhao Lianhe) which consisted of 10 Sets (Chin Woo Fundamental Routines).

Upon completion then students could select a specialty to study. In the years after its establishment the Jingwu association spread to many countries and as a result the styles and curriculum all differed according to the teachers of the various branches. There was however a constant standard amongst all schools and these were the Standard 10 Sets which are demonstrated below by the Shanghai Chin Woo Association:
